This is a three bedroom townhouse located in Scarborough, Ontario. The furnish 1 bedroom basement with private washroom, living space and kitchenette is available for homestay guest. There is no private entrance to basement. Main entrance is shared with host. I have three grown children, one of whom lives with me
I'm looking to host ‘International homestay only!’ to exchange some international experience while hosting.
Payment for period of stay is due immediately upon arrival. A 50% security deposit is also required
LAUNDRY is NOT included! Access to Laundromat is less than 10 mins away!
Check in before noon hour on Weekdays!

About the Area
We are located in the east end of the City in a very friendly, quiet and safe neighbourhood. (There is no parking available) It is walking distance to the Plaza and hospital. We are about half hour drive to the airport and close to two major shopping malls 7 and 5 min drive away. The bus stops are less than a 2 min walk from the house with lots of options

She was not polite, and the basement wasn’t cleaned well

Imagine travelling for 18hrs, then after a long and arduous journey, you arrive to the area and then having to wait in a Wendy's for 8hrs for the "host" to arrive home from work. To be fair to livvy, she did ask her daughter to meet me 1hr b4 she finished work to give me access to the room at 10:30pm.
You then arrive at the homestay to be immediately confronted with "gimme the money", I mean literally not even a hello, can I offer you a cup of water nothing just str8 to the bag, fair do's, its her house her rules, So in her front door I was made to search all three of my suitcases for the 1500 rent for the three weeks. Obviously tired, irritated and now completely embarrassed, I eventually find the money tucked away in an envelope deep in the crevices of one my suitcases.
Hurray! Now we can see the room.
And then the regret sets in. The place was filthy! Mould growing on the bathroom taps, rat/mice droppings in the bed and the sheets smelled as if they hadn't been washed in several years.
I was so tired that all I wanted to do was sleep but I had to wait for livvy to arrive home from work so she cud brief me on her house rules.
I could go on and tell you some of the other nightmare experiences in this basement but I'll spare you and me reliving it, needless to say be prepared to clean, thoroughly with bleach, buy a vaccume because the one there is broken.
There were some positives, the Internet connection is great, the area is also wonderful with some awesome trails and close to west point and Scarborough bluffs which are quite beautiful spots to chill with friends.

If you want to feel like home even being far away from it you won't regret staying with Livvy and little Nina!! Had an amazing experience , she was very helpful, easy-going and kind. Thank you so much Livvy, I hope we keep in touch!

I really enjoyed my stay at Livvy's. She is extremely helpful. She guided me and showed me around the neighbourhood. The place is walking distance from grocery store, bank, Tim horton's, dollorama etc. Her dog Nina is absolutely adorable.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
