There is not enough great things to say about Gerda and her homestay. The town was absolutely stunning, right by the river, and had all that you would need. The food markets were on Friday morning but the butcher visited about three times a week.
The people were friendly and it was true genuine southern france. Cubjac doesn't have many people but thats part of the appeal.
Gerda herself was so welcoming and could always point you in the right direction for something to see or do.
Everything is so close you could walk, bike, drive.
I would recommend a car just because you may get lost with all the little villages around if you bike or walk.
The caves of Lascaux were very close and so many other beautiful sites from caves to chateaus it is such a beautiful area with a wonderful host.
I would recommend to stay at Gerda's to anyone. The linen was fresh and wonderful, towels, clean bathroom, great authentic furniture and design in a gorgeous old house with so much history.
I went in Autumn and it was beautiful and sunny and was still dishing out 24 degrees celcius so it was wonderful.
Breakfast in the morning with the view of the garden and the sun streaming in was relaxing and always enjoyable.
There's plenty of things about this homestay I really loved but you really have to experience it to know that it is beyond words.
Just to note, she has two cats but they sleep and play outside and are really only inside to eat but not in the eating area so for people mildly allergic I think it would be alright.
For horse lovers there is a large horse riding place 15 minutes drive from Cubjac that is really good.
Thank-you Gerda, I'll see you next time!
