Initially, I asked them whether they had special rules with regards to the kitchen, bathroom and in general. However, none were declared. After a while, they began to limit me everywhere and scold me whenever I apparently broke rules, which were unknown to me and must have been made up without my knowledge. For instance, at first, I could eat my breakfast in the kitchen whenever I wanted, however later, I was told to eat somewhere else.

The floor was always dirty, since they always walked in shoes and they never cleaned it up even if it got dirty – cheese, chocolate, etc.

The kitchen was almost always filthy since they always left used plates and utensils in the sink from morning till evening. And even if they washed them, they were still full of unclean spots…so I was compelled to clean utensils before using them. You would often see the kitchen table covered with breadcrumbs and honey/jam spots.

The bathroom was disgusting because you would also find chips crumbs on the floor and the toilet was often not flushed.

Do not be fooled by the illusion that you have access to the dryer and the radiator. You can use the dryer ONLY when it is bad weather, and not when you really need it. And if you are freezing in your room, they will not turn on the heat unless they want to. Even if they turned on the radiator, the heat did rarely get into your room.

Furthermore, they have always been pressing me psychologically. For instance.

They messed with my stuff without even asking me. They would put my shoes on top of each other while keeping their shoes standing next to each other. They would place a basket with dirty laundry on top of my cosmetic bag in the bathroom. They would remove my shampoo from the shelf, while keeping their own, and put the wet bottles into my cosmetic bag.

As they knew that I am a student, who does not have a lot of money, they would take my food that I bought without even asking me.

Finally, despite of all of that, I still respected the family and its rules that appeared along the way, as I knew that I was a guest. However, later on, I was told to leave their home. They yelled that they did not want to give me any explanation and did not want to discuss the matter.

    You have been warned…

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile.
