Large family home within walking distance of two of Irelands largest and most beautiful lakes. Our family live in a 5 bedroom farm house newly renovated and extended in Clonbur county Galway which is Just 2 miles away is the friendly and picturesque village of Clonbur, with its highly-rated restaurants and public houses. The world famous Cong co .Mayo is also only 2 miles from our house.
We are a family of 3.We have a large Kitchen and open plan living area ,guest reception rooms and the house is very spacious with large garden .Scenic woodland walks are available on the doorstep and access to Lough Corrib is a 500 meter walk.
Fishing , Boats ,Boat trips, bikes, farm & woodland walks available from host.

Explore the beaches of Connemara, the historical sites of the west, and the cosmopolitan towns of Westport, Clifden and Galway .

Once the estate of the Guinness Family, the Castle has operated as an exclusive hotel since 1939.

Hill Walking, Walking & Cycling

Numerous hill walking trails and fantastically routed woodland walks within walking distance of your accommodation.. See the ruins of legendary Ballykyne Castle, and enjoy the teeming wildlife and nature. The Siúlóid route takes you along the Seanbhóthar (old road) between the villages of Corr na Móna and Clonbur. It is a surfaced path with some inclines. The route takes you along the side of Mount Gable with stunning views of Lough Corrib. It is 10km one way and takes approx. 2 hours to complete. Information and maps available. Bike hire available in the village of Clonbur.

Wildlife

There is an abundance of wildlife in Clonbur including birds and hawks, otters, mink, stoat, frogs, bats and much more. The “Dawn Chorus” in early spring is spectacular to listen to. The surrounding area is mostly pastoral farmland to the south and east traditional sheep farming is the main industry and bog to the west and north.

Cruises

From Cong Corrib Cruises run cruises on board “The Lady Ardilaun” from Ashford Castle to Inchagoil island and Oughterard. This Cruise takes you on a very scenic voyage. We cruise beautiful Lough Corrib with guided commentary of islands, lake and shoreline.

The oldest established Falconry School in Ireland offers you the chance to fly a hawk around the spectacular grounds of Ashford Castle

Cong Abbey

At the entrance to the village are the ruins of Cong Abbey (National Monument), an Augustinian house. Only fragments of the church remain, but a finely sculptured doorway and a number of capitals in the cloister are striking examples of Irish Romanesque art.

Lough Nafooey

For a rewarding round trip, with a harmonious mingling of hill, valley and river scenery, take the road which runs west to Lough Nafooey, with views of the Partry Mountains, and then, crossing a saddle into the valley of the River Joyce, continue on the L101 round the western tip of Lough Corrib, and so back to Cong.

Quiet Man Heritage Centre

Cong was the site for most of the filming of “The Quiet Man”. The cottage is a typical Irish cottage of the 1920’s with exhibits of archaeological and historical improtance.

Ballinrobe Golf Course (16k)

Considered by many, including world-famous golfer Padraig Harrington, to be among the finest parkland courses in Ireland.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
