I stayed with Miyako for the first week of my one month of traveling in Japan. It was a perfect way for me to ease into the Japanese culture and language as a beginner to all things Japanese. Miyako made delicious and generous meals for me. I enjoyed daily walks around the nearby pond which offered the opportunity to watch the Sakura buds bloom and observe a flight of cormorants perched on a collection of rocks across the pond.
Each day brought a new adventure for me with Miyako's guidance. She helped me secure a transit pass. And she took me to see several places I would not have know to look for, including the White Shrine in the sea, a very nice onsen, a fun beach playground for all ages, a farmer's market and even a hidden Izakaya that's down the street from her home.
The day before I was scheduled to leave for the bigger city of Fukuoka, Miyako took time to hand-make name cards for each of my children who came to meet me later in my travels. I am forever grateful to Miyako for enriching and informing my and my children's stay in Japan. We had a wonderful time thanks in great part to that first Homestay week with MiyakoHost reply

I spent a 5 days with Miyako and her husband, it was my first homestay but I absolutely loved the experience! Miyako took great care of me, and we had a great time chatting about things in English and Japanese. She taught me about the local area, lent me her bike to go on day trips and even made some really nice food. Staying with them opened my eyes to a completely new side of Japan and I feel very lucky to have experienced it!

I spent a nice week with Miyako san. She lives with her husband Mikio san. She is a very attentive host, working hard to improve her english, always caring that your stay will be good, giving informations about interesting spots to visit near Itoshima, preparing good cooking, she even prepared me a bento.
She lives in an appartment with a view to a nice pound. The room is confortable even if you can hear a little bit the traffic. And the city is nice, I spent a lot of time in her electric bicycle visiting the neighborhood. Countryside and even the sea is accessible. To Fukuoka it's about 40 minutes but it was not a problem for few travels, there are often trains to go there.

Miyako is so kind and nice. She always took care of me and helped me a lot. I know she always did her best. She can speak English well and very smart. We talked a lot and visited many nice places.
I have so many beautiful memories in Itoshima thanks to her.December 2023
A warm retired couple and occasionally lively grandchildren come to visit. I had a lot of fun and their willingness to help was very encouraging.

Your own room in a cozy family home. I stayed for 1 week with Miyako, her husband and her Grandson. We had a good time and liked to relax together in the living room. If you like nature there are plenty of sites nearby to visit. Also Fukuoka is only a short train ride away.

I loved staying in Itoshima with Ms. Miyako,
It is a bit outside fukuoka (40 Minutes per train) but got a direct train connection. Miyako has very tasty cooking and the room was big for the prize. You could also explore the rural village life. It is probably not a good stay if you want to be out late at night (because of it being so far), but that was no problem for me.

I really enjoyed staying at Miyako's house. It was very interesting to exchange with her about the japan and french lifestyles and traditions. The calligraphy lesson was very nice and I enjoyed to try a kimono, it was a very good experience. Hope to see Miyako and her husband if I go back to kyoto. Thanks for all.

Miyako and her husband were so kind to open their cozy home for us. We felt really welcomed and our stay was amazing. Also, we are so thankful to Miyako for her tasty homecooked meals and her caligraphy lesson. She went out of her way to help us with our questions about Japan and even recommeded the best green tea.
We really miss the two already - Thank you Miyako, it was a great honor!Host reply
