The house is near the Keihan line, which is very convenient to go to center Kyoto. You can reach Gion in maximum 20 mins with a Limited express train from Chushojima station. Kiyomizu-dera Fushimi Inari Shrine and others sightseeing destinations are on Keihan main line. And from Gion, Kawaramachi Hankyu Stagion, you can go EVERYWHERE in the Kansai region very quickly, like in Osaka or Kobe (maximum 2hs for Kobe) and even in Koya-san (it takes a longer time but it deserves it). Nara is also reachable within one hour. This region is so beautiful, I can't depict it with words, it's a must-see place.
Then, talking of the family, I just want to come back again homestaying there. They're so kind, Kumi cooks so well ! The house is always smiling thanks to the children, Leo and Joe, who are very energetic. We've spent such great moments together, I wish I could come back by them someday !
And you can survive in Summer (thanks to air conditioners everywhere and very affordable drinks in automatic distributors) ! Please try to come in July seeing the Gion Matsuri, you won't ever forget it ! Kyoto is the heart of Japan, you'll feel it at this event, but also in temples like the Chion-In.
Kumi's house is located on Keihan Uji Line, which also takes you to Uji. This town's speciality is Macha Tea and it's also the town of The Tales of Genji. Ah there's so much to see. Just come and try, I think you'll fully enjoy Japan just staying in Kyoto at Kumi's (*^▽^)/★*☆♪July 2014
It was very nice staying with Kumi and her family. I was sightseeing all day so did not spend that much time at home but Kumi is lovely. Her food was very nice, the room and house were great too! The house is not right in the centre of Kyoto but it is very easy to go there taking the underground. Gion district is about 20 min away so it is very close.

It was really nice to stay with Kumi and Hiro! They were very friendly and helpful and it was fun to spend time with them or to play with their (super adorable) children. Also, Kumis cooking is awesome. Such a nice family!

I had a lovely stay with this young family. They were friendly, kind, helpful and went out of their way to help me - over and beyond what was expected. Kumi drove me to my bus terminal on my final morning - a 20 minute drive each way and was very happy to do so. I'm coming back again!
