Odula family is found in Rusinga Island on the shores of Lake Victoria, Kenya.
Am Victor 33 years old, My Dad Michael (born 1947) are retired and now involved in community development work.
Michael is a retired High school principal while me( born1956 ) My mother Jane a retired social worker. She graduated in Social Development Studies with Diploma at Coady International International Institute, St Xavier University in Canad. She did Social Development work in Kenya with several Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs), working with major local groups namely schools, youth and women groups and farmers promoting sustainable development initiatives.
Our family has old children, who are now married but now we stay with our grandchildren Gloria, , Tania and Albright, Michael Junior, Michael Martin and Diana who are total orphans.
The visitors will eat with the Odula family and will be involved in all the family chores and activities and will be served traditional African dishes (i.e. Ugali, chapatti, mandazi etc)
Guests can take part in the following outdoor activities: hiking, mountaineering and water sports e.g. fishing, boating, canoeing etc and also in organized visits / trips to Lake Victoria regional sites of historical and geographical importance e.g. to: the nearby Ruma National Park with rare endemic wildlife species i.e. roan antelopes founded only in this park, Hot ' “ springs on mainland and bird islands on Lake Victoria. Pre ' “ historic and Archaeological sites, such as Tom Mboya Mausoleum and museum in Rusinga Island Lake Victoria, and visits to many other places including study tours, field trips and organized excursions etc.
The family runs Milimani Academy ' “ a preschool and primary school for orphans and vulnerable children from the local region. The school provides education, feeding programs, clothing (uniforms) and medication.

About the Area
Rusinga Island is a 45 km2 on Lake Victoria, on the western Kenya, at about 70 km from the Equator. It is around 500 km from Nairobi and the main way to get there is by buses (matatus) through Homa- Bay and Mbita (the nearest town). Otherwise one can travel by air up to Kisumu and from there to Homa-Bay then Mbita by buses.

Meals
Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
