Tucked in the sprawling plains of the Aberdare Mountain Ranges and the picturesque Mount Kenya in Nyeri County within Central Kenya is Mucii Homestays.
It offers a family environment to the nature-loving traveller.
Mucii, in Gikuyu (the local dialect), means “Home”.
Mucii Homestays offers the discerning traveller an opportunity to experience country life on a relatively small Kenyan farm. At Mucii we have a passion for trees and vegetation and care for a sustainable eco-system.
Mucii Homestays has two, four-bed capacity rooms in a modern setting, uniquely furnished by the choicest of Kenyan artistry.
Mucii presents both the casual or business traveller a rare opportunity to experience nature walks by the banks of Honi River against the backdrop of chirping of over 200 birds species that grace the serenity that Mucii offers.
Our treasured guests can visit places of interest within the vast Mount Kenya tourism circuit which include guided climbing excursions, game drives within the Aberdares National Park, OlPejeta Wildlife Conservancy, Solio Conservancy or the Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy, which is home to the rare Mountain Bongo.
The Mau Mau caves are a must for a piece of history.
The host and her elderly Mother live on the property and have a passion for farming trees. The hosts enjoy hiking, jogging, golf, knitting and sewing. The hosts live on the property and remain available to offer advice and guidance to guests.

About the Area
Our farm is 3.2 kilometres from the main Nyeri-Nyahururu highway ( direction to the Aberdare Ark Lodge).
Meals
Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
