Taita is found in the upper coast of Kenya in the midst of the expansive Tsavo West National park, 2 hours drive from Mombasa and 6 hours from Nairobi. The home can easily be reached by both private and public transport from Nairobi or Mombasa.
Guests can mingle with the host(terry or be lucky to meet the whole family of both parents and 2 adult siblings.) or have some private time as the house has enough space ( 2 kitchens, a study, 2 sitting rooms or lounge) or sit/walk around the expansive grounds filled with wonderful species of flowers and trees. Guests can go for a nature walk to the nearby dam which is accessible to our guests.
Those who love to run, can join us during the week of October 18 2014 for the Annual Madoka Half Marathon going to its 9th edition.
My interest is to set up an eco friendly home stay by putting up mechanisms for conservation of the environment and reducing harmful farming.
Excursions to local touristic sites or to Tsavo National park(the largest national park in Kenya) can be arranged separately.

The family speaks fluent English while the staff has some knowledge of English for comfortable conversation with guests.

About the Area
DIRECTIONS: From Nairobi: drive on Mombasa Highway until Voi Junction. Turn right (coming from Mombasa, turn left) at Caltex petrol station until you arrive at Mwatate junction.
Turn right and proceed uphill until Wundanyi town. At the end of the tarmac turn left and follow the main lower murram road. At every junction keep left.
Note: rural areas do not have codes so I have used our Nairobi code for the process to complete.

House Rules
Please do not invite strangers into the house without the knowledge of the host or other staff who work around the compound.
Minimal social alcohol drinking allowed but rowdiness is not acceptable.
If there are other groups, please keep your property safely and keep your room locked.
Access to the common areas is allowed for all guests but be mindful if there are other groups around.
Please inform the host if you will not be available for meals.
If you are going to be out late please inform the host although we would prefer you be in doors by 8 pm due to transport availability.
If you are not sure if something is not culturally acceptable, please ask before you venture.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
