The historic house is over 150 years old. It is one of the original old Knysna homes. We live in the house and we have split it into two halves with the flatlet at the front with its own entrance and we live at the back with our own entrance. There is an interleading door between the two living areas.
We offer a character filled one bedroom flat/apartment with large private lounge and separate additional toilet room with wash basin and large built in cupboards.

The lounge has wooden floors and high ceilings with roof fan. It is a lovely room for entertaining or relaxing. There is a double sleeper couch in the lounge offering a bed for up to two additional persons. There is a small 2-plate stove and oven, kettle and toaster with a kitchen basin area and a dining table. All self-catering facilities are provided.

The bedroom has an extra length Queen sized bed, with Sealy mattress, and en-suite bathroom (shower only) with toilet and washbasin. It also has a built-in cupboard and a roof mounted fan.

The apartment has excellent security and an enclosed veranda in one of the oldest areas in Knysna. It is up the road from the Knysna's original Anglican Church, Catholic Church, and an evangelical church. It is walking distance to the Methodist and NG churches.

The Gym at the Royal Hotel, down the street, offers daily gym memberships and has a heated pool.

The house is walking distance to town, shopping malls, and restaurants. It is central to all the attractions of Knysna and surrounds.

There is off-street parking for cars and or trailers behind locked gates.

About the Area

The house is on the side of a hill overlooking the lagoon and town central. There are many of the original Knysna homes in the area since this was the original settlement which became Knysna. The streets are lined with 200-year-old oak trees.

It is walking distance to town (10 minutes walk), shopping malls, and restaurants. It is central to all the attractions of Knysna and surrounds.

There are a number of churches in the area. Knysna's original Anglican Church is 400 metres away, the Catholic Church is diagonally across the road and an evangelical church is about 100 down the road. It is also walking distance to the Methodist and NG churches.

The Gym at the Royal Hotel, down the street, offers daily gym memberships and has a heated pool.

It is about a 20-minute drive to Brenton on Sea which has a long beach for walking or swimming stretching to Buffalo Bay in the West. There is also a small beach on Leisure Island about 10 minutes drive away, which is in the Knysna Estuary but faces the Knysna Heads and the ocean beyond.

Our home stay experience with Michelle and Lex was wonderful. The directions given ensured that we reached effortlessly. Their heritage home is located conveniently close to the best spots in Knysna, yet it is incredibly aloof and private. The warm welcome extended by Lex and their adorable dog, Teaspoon, still remains etched in our memory. The house is comfortable, secure and very tastefully done. A home away from home where we would love to spend some more time whenever we do the garden route again.
