We had a great time at Heman’s Homestay. We had the whole upstairs- kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms! More than we needed! The location was great as we were based at Karapitiya hospital and it was a 15 minute bus ride away, and was equidistant to Galle city centre. The living space was clean, comfy and spacious. There was a small problem with ants in the apartment, we had to throw away food that had got infested but we had to learn to seal everything away. Also, I think on homestay.com it said a ‘light breakfast’ would be included in our stay, however it wasn’t... apart from this the place was perfect. Heman and his wife were so friendly and welcoming, Heman even organised a whole safari for us which was brilliant!

I had a wonderful time at this homestay, the hosts were very warm and hospitable and the accommodation itself is comfortable and homely.
The location is in a leafy suburb of Galle and bus transportation to the main bus station is easy and continues until around 10pm. A tuk tuk from the centre of town is less than two dollars. The beautiful beach at Unawatuna is easily reached within 30-40 minutes by bus for less than a dollar.
The hosts provided me with a lot of ideas about where to visit in the Southern Province and about how to get there. They did not try to convince me to take a taxi everywhere and respected the fact that I liked to take the bus and train. They were also kind enough to pick me up and drop me off at the bus station.
I would highly recommend this homestay as a base to explore the surrounding area and experience life in Sri Lanka. I felt very welcomed into the host's family and as I was travelling alone, this made a big difference to how much I enjoyed visiting Sri Lanka.

Heman and his wife have been very good hosts, they take care of their guests in the most friendly way, giving the best of themselves. I highly recommend this place, clean and nice. They are also very human persons
February 2014
We stayed with Heman and Rincy for three nights 21st to 23rd Feb. Although their place is a little way out of the centre it really added to our stay in Galle. The location is in a very quiet road and surrounded by trees and a paddy field at the back. The room we had was large and clean, with its own balcony and sitting room, and kitchen if we wanted to cook for ourselves.
They were excellent hosts giving us loads of information, even taking us to the nearby famous Lighthouse hotel.
Nothing was to much trouble and the breakfasts and dinners they cooked for us were very good. We will certainly be back when in Galle again.

Had been here recently that is , jan 2014. Well ... The place is very comfy and most amazing is that it was well equipped with necessary stuff like utensils, toaster, water boiler, mosquito net, mosquito coils , clothes washing stuff. Although I couldn't stay for long it was a great stay . The Dharmapriya family is very friendly, helping and fun part was that they invited me over for lunch on a Sunday and also Mrs.Rincy gave me a nice cooking lesson of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine which was a fun thing as well . All n all for people travelling to Galle looking for a clean n hospitable place to stay at good price must go for this homestay
September 2013
We came in September for an internship at the Karapitiya Hospital which is nearby and easy to reach by bus, as well as the Galle Fort and the beaches around the city. Rincy and Heman welcomed us very friendly and we quickly felt like home. We had delicious breakfast every morning and they helped us with any question we had. We´d love to come back and highly recommend this place for people who would like to take part in a Sri Lankan family´s every day life.

January 2012
This is a jewel of a homestay. You get a one bedroom apt upstairs with a separate entrance, very hospitable and helpful hosts and easy public transport to the large gorgeous Old Fort marine park downtown and to some of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. Great value.
