August 2012
as I was there for one week I hoped that they would
propose to clean the room and give me a fresh towel
in time (which I had to ask for)
I had a room at the back with no vieuw (only walls in the backside which was a little pitty, because I was
staying there for one week)March 2012

Not Halil or Maria were living at the homestay.
Rooms are rented mostly to European students
and I have been put to sleep on a quite uncomfortable sofa-bed
in the living room, for all my stay (10+days).
The place is located about 1km away from Taksim in a rough neighborhood
and in the opposite direction to the Sultanahmet.
No microwave or Tv available
and the apartment is slightly dirty/dusty.
Faulty light switch and faucet in the windowless bathroom.
Halil is very busy and showed up just few times at very odd hours.
I will not recommended this homestay to any of my friends.August 2010
This guest awarded the host 3.5 hearts but didn’t leave any comments.

I stayed with Halil for 5 days in early July and had a great time. Halil is a very friendly, fun, and welcoming host. The apartment is quite clean and well-maintained. It's a ten minute walk from Taksim (though be prepared to climb a big hill). I would definitely recommend a stay here.

the stay in halils place was really nice. he took me from taksim with his motorbike and we directly did a little sightseeing on the way. the house is located in a neighbourhood full of life. as i only had one night in istanbul halil organized a dinner together with his friends and we had delicious turkish food. at night we went out to see the famous nightlife of istanbul, because halil knows a couple of good bars and clubs to dance. the room is quiet and in the morning the sun wakes you through the curtain.
if you need travel information, halil is the right person to talk to. as he worked in tourism for many years he can help you with all your questions: what to see, where to go and so on.
taksim is only a short walk away and from there you can reach the whole city with public transport.
i recommend halils place for an unforgettable istanbul experience!
thanks again for your hospitality.
