Welcome to my little Creole Cottage in the Holy Cross neighborhood of the lower ninth ward. Across a canal from the Bywater, this secluded historic neighborhood is a rare gem in this bustling town. Listen to the church bells ring on the hour, walk along the mighty Mississippi, spend the afternoon relaxing in the yard. Only a ten minute drive to the French Quarter or Business District, you are just close enough to all the action. *New Orleans is not the most safe city. Please be aware of your surroundings and use taxis at night!*
*I love this neighborhood, but restaurants and shops are not within walking distance, you must drive*
You'll be sharing the home with me, my cat, and perhaps another guest or two! My home is a 3 bed, 2 bath renovated double. I rent out the two downstairs bedrooms that share a bathroom. The common areas are the living room and kitchen, please make yourself at home. I do have a large yard you have access to as well. It's currently just a lawn, but it's slowly morphing to garden.
I am an herbalist and birth doula. I'm interested in living a slow life, growing and making, permaculture, sustainability, and community. I've traveled around the world, and staying in others' homes has been the most rewarding and enlightening part of travel. I feel blessed to be able to offer a place to other travelers.
!!New Orleans is a beautiful, unique, and incredibly intense city. My home is a safe place, my sanctuary. By staying with me you agree to respect my neighborhood, my neighbors, my home, and me. Be aware, this is New Orleans. This is not the most quiet or safe city. Please use taxis or Lyfts at night. !!

About the Area
Hugging the Mississippi River, in the infamous lower ninth ward, is the Historical Holy Cross neighborhood. Here you'll find the diversity that makes New Orleans such an amazing cultural hub. Old mansions are sandwiched between new builds and small shotgun houses, every other block is still blighted from Hurricane Katrina. This is a very quiet neighborhood, off the beaten path. Not much in walking distance -- a car, Lyft, or taxi will be your best option. Only 10 mins from the quarter (if the bridge is down).

I had a great time at Sarah's ! She and her guests (and Monty the cat) welcomed me so kindly I really felt like home. Sarah is kind, funny, and always willing to share her experiences and knowledge of NOLA.
Thank you Sarah ! I love you all :)December 2019
Sarah is very hospitable and knows a lot about the region and specifically its music. Her house is calm and comfortable. Perfect place to stay with a car or a bike to go to the city center.
