We offer a secure family environment, conducive to meetings, quiet and warm. I have a 20 year old daughter who recently left home and a 1 year old boy. We have welcomed students and interns from abroad since 2014, whose contacts we appreciate and with whom we like to exchange our cultures and realities.
We would like to rent to an autonomous and independent person. We particularly appreciate people curious about Quebec culture and sensitive to the environment.
The room for rent is in a spacious 2-story apartment. We have a small furnished courtyard and a terrace. We also have a small urban henhouse with three pullets which provide us with fresh eggs every day (or almost!). We also have a cute little ram rabbit who lives freely in the house. She will do her business, like a cat, in her litter box.
On the 1st floor are the open concept living spaces (fully equipped kitchen, dining room and living room) and a closed bedroom. The upstairs room is currently occupied by a French student who has just completed her doctorate. Unfortunately for us, she will soon be leaving us to go work outside of Montreal. Since my daughter has moved to an apartment, her room has become available and we will arrange it to accommodate another student. The room will be fully furnished with a single bed, a chest of drawers, a small sofa, a desk and a wardrobe. We can include bedding if you wish.
Our apartment is close to all services, including delicatessens, organic stores, bakeries, supermarkets and a public market. Stops for 2 bus lines to the city center and metro stations are around the corner. The closest metro station is Viau station (accessible by bus or about a 10-minute walk). There are also Bixi stations (shared bicycles) nearby. We are ideally located if you work or study at UQAM (university), Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, Cégep Maisonneuve or downtown.
When I was younger, I lived with a host family during a stay in England. I enjoyed the experience and I find that it is a great opportunity, for my children and me, to remain open to the world and to get to know new cultures and meet new people.
