The Parochial House was built in 1881. It offers all the charm of a typical period residence with the comfort of a modern home. The house was renovated in 2020 and is situated in the heart of a picturesque village. The room on offer boasts high ceilings, shuttered windows, a tiled fireplace and views that stretch as far as Mount Leinster on a clear day.

About the Area
The house is located in the heart of a quaint rural village. On its doorstep, it has a traditional pub, Mackeys Bar. Mackeys has weekly poker games (Thursdays) and offers food (sit in and takeaway) Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Gathabawn is also the starting point for two scenic walking trails both of which are detailed on a map in the village. Long Loop: 11.5km/2.5-3hrs. Short Loop: 6.5km/1.5hrs

This was a fabulous stay in a beautiful part of kilkenny...just a short drive from the city. The host Orla couldn't have been more accommodating. The house and room were immaculate and gorgeous. And macky's

Orla is a welcoming and generous host. She has a calm, spacious, well equipped house in a lovely village location. The main guest room is beautiful with a very comfy large bed. Orla is happy to tell you everything she knows about the area/the people/ what is happening - or equally to leave you to your own devices! I would 100% recommend.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
